Three lucky National Lottery winners claimed over €100,000 in prizes today, including a repeat winner from County Clare who struck gold twice with a Cashword Doubler scratchcard.
National Lottery headquarters was bustling today as three lucky winners claimed prizes exceeding €100,000. Among them was a fortunate scratchcard player from County Clare, who experienced double the joy, winning a remarkable €30,000 top prize on the Cashword Doubler scratchcard. This victory follows his previous major win of €15,000 on the same scratchcard back in 2017. The Clare resident shared how he scratched the winning ticket while in his car.
Upon returning home, his only utterance to his wife was, 'We've won again.' Expressing his delight, he stated: 'I scratched the card in the car. When I got home, I said to my wife - 'We have to go back to Dublin, we’ve won again! This is fantastic news to receive at the start of the New Year, as we have some home renovations planned, and now we can finally get started.' The winning scratchcard was purchased at Tierney’s Costcutter on the Tulla Road in Ennis. Joining the elated Clare player were two other significant prize winners. A player from Cork celebrated after winning €55,998 from the EuroMillions draw on Friday, January 10. This lucky individual, who matched five numbers in the draw, purchased their Quick Pick ticket from SuperValu on Strand Street in Kanturk. They shared their disbelief, saying: “I usually pick my own numbers; this time I decided to go with a Quick Pick – I am so glad I did! I didn’t know I had won at all. I went back to the same shop to have my ticket checked – when the cashier told me I had won big – my heart sank – it is still yet to sink in.” Lastly, a Dublin player who won €40,341 by matching five numbers and the bonus in the Lotto draw on Saturday, December 28, was also in high spirits. They purchased the winning ticket at Shiel’s Londis on Yellow Walls Road in Malahide. Speaking to the National Lottery, the man said: “It was my Dad who realised it was our numbers – when we do play, we always pick our birthdays – this time they all turned up! €40,000 is a great amount to share with family and friends, I have a son and daughter both off to college next year, this will help fund college for both of them.” This Tuesday's EuroMillions draw rolls to an estimated €85 Million. Players dreaming of becoming Ireland’s newest EuroMillions winner are reminded that tickets for Tuesday’s draw can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie
