Expert on oil spills says environmental toll from incident off England’s East Yorkshire coast ‘could be severe’

It had been anchored while it waited for a berth to become available at the Port of Killingholme, on the river Humber, Crowley said. One RNLI crew member said the fog was so thick during the initial search that rescue crews could “not see a thing”. Martin Slater, of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, told the iPaper the coast was home to “protected and significant” seabird colonies, with many gathering offshore in advance of the nesting season.
