A major focus on the Budget 2025 discussions has been the Child Benefit, with reports of payment increases, double lump sums and the dismissal of a two-tiered scheme
The government is finalising the cost of living measures set to be announced next week for Budget 2025.The Child Benefit scheme is reported to be included in both the October once-off payments and the Christmas bonus that should be paid in December, resulting in an additional €280 before the end of the year.
While there is good news for parents, one suspected measure has been confirmed to be excluded from the budget. Last September, he said: “I have asked Minister Humphreys to examine the ESRI proposal to introduce a means-tested second-tier of child benefit.”
