Ronan Keating accuses Louis Walsh of lacking support for his solo career and damaging his artistic aspirations in a new Sky documentary.
Ronan Keating has publicly accused Louis Walsh of not caring about his solo music career and even attempting to sabotage it. In a new Sky documentary, Boyzone : No Matter What, which premieres on February 2nd, Keating shares his frustrations about his former manager. He states that while he was eager to succeed as a solo artist in the 2000s, Walsh pushed him to release music quickly, prioritizing quantity over quality.
Keating claims that Walsh misjudged his musical direction, failing to understand his ambitions and even being unaware of his solo tours. He contrasts Walsh's focus on television appearances with his lack of support for Keating's artistic endeavors. Walsh, however, maintains that he was constantly in touch with Keating, encouraging him and focusing on his success. He defends his approach, asserting that Keating's music appealed to a broad audience and that hits were the goal. He expresses surprise that Keating wasn't satisfied with the songs he produced, claiming they were all commercially successful. While Walsh acknowledges that their relationship ultimately ended, he insists he always acted in Keating's best interests. Keating, however, recounts a bitter falling out where he confronted Walsh about his perceived failings as a manager. He alleges that Walsh's words were hurtful and intended to damage his career. Although they both acknowledge the painful end to their professional partnership, Keating remains adamant that Walsh didn't genuinely care about his artistic aspirations. Louis Walsh has since apologized for some of his past remarks about Keating, stating that they were not intended out of malice. Boyzone: No Matter What promises to delve deeper into the complexities of their relationship and the band's enduring legacy
