Met Eireann predicts snow showers from Saturday, January 4th, with potential for significant snowfall in the south on Sunday and throughout the early week. The wintry conditions are expected to gradually move northwards, with the last snowfall anticipated in the northwest on Wednesday, January 8th.

Much colder tonight with clear spells and well scattered showers, some turning wintry in the north and west. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees in a light northerly breeze with widespread frost and some ice developing.
