Joe Brolly is the latest Irish celeb being tipped to announce their name in the race for president when Michael D Higgins' term is up
The Co Derry native has never shied away from the limelight and has recently dipped his toe in political commentary on his podcast, with spectators projecting him for a presidential run at 5/1, according to Ladbrokes.
Some are convinced singer Imelda May is vying to be the next president of Ireland. She is 10/1 to run in the election. Michael Flatley has also proved a popular figure with punters. The Lord of the Dance is 15/1 to dance his way through an election. Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes commented: "Joe Brolly is the name on everyone’s lips at the minute. He looks like he has an eye for politics and he may be the first one on the ballot sheet with no other candidates yet confirmed!"
The former Eurovision winner gave a coy response when quizzed on RTÉ Radio by Oliver Callan over whether she planned to throw her hat into the ring to replace Michael D Higgins, whose second term as President runs out this year.
