Storm Eowyn battered Ireland with record-breaking winds, causing widespread damage and forcing the closure of a popular Dublin pub.

Storm Eowyn wreaked havoc across Ireland last night, unleashing record-breaking gusts of up to 183 km/h and leaving a path of devastation in its wake. Although Status Red weather warnings have been downgraded, the storm's impact remains severe, with thousands of homes and businesses grappling with extensive damage from uprooted trees and downed power lines.

Dublin's inner city bore the brunt of the storm's fury, with a well-known pub, Clonliffe House, situated near the Cusack Stand end of Croke Park, suffering catastrophic damage. The extreme winds ripped the roof clean off the pub's beer garden, leaving behind a scene of utter destruction. Footage captured by Dublin Live today reveals the beer garden roof completely obliterated, with remnants scattered across the area. The supporting structure remains damaged and continues to sway despite the downgraded yellow wind warning. Parts of the structural walls have also been torn and ripped apart due to the hurricane-strength winds that swept across Ireland during the early hours of this morning.Despite the extensive damage, Clonliffe House managed to reopen its doors to customers this afternoon. The pub's owners and staff have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ballybough community, who kept them informed throughout the storm and generously offered assistance in its aftermath. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident. However, the damage has forced the closure of the beer garden, which is anticipated to take a considerable amount of time to repair. Pamela, Bernard, and Darren from Clonliffe House shared their appreciation with Dublin Live, thanking their neighbors for their vigilance and support. They also extended an invitation to join their Irish breaking news service on WhatsApp, offering subscribers direct access to breaking news and the latest headlines, alongside special offers and promotions from themselves and their partners.
