Storm Eowyn, the fifth named storm of the season, is set to bring very windy and wet weather to Ireland later this week. Met Eireann has issued an official weather advisory, warning of potentially damaging wind gusts and disruption, accompanied by heavy rain, sleet, and snow, particularly in western and northern parts of the country. A low-pressure system is expected to move away by Saturday, but another system may bring additional strong winds and heavy rain on Sunday.
People across Ireland have been warned to prepare for potentially severe weather later this week. Storm Eowyn , pronounced Ay-oh-win, has become the fifth named storm of the season and is set to bring very windy and wet weather.
It is expected to move away by Saturday, but another low-pressure system is being monitored for Sunday, which could bring additional strong winds and heavy rain. Weather expert Alan O'Reilly, who has been tracking the forecast via his Carlow Weather social media accounts, this afternoon described some of the latest projections as "staggering", but cautioned that different models show variations in the storm's track
This comes as Met Eireann has identified eight key dangers posed by Storm Eowyn. It said: "Main impacts will start to be felt overnight on Thursday and through Friday, with some potentially lasting longer."
