While the worst of the storm is expected to stay offshore, strong winds and heavy rain are predicted for Sunday and Monday. Weather expert Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather reassures the public that the storm will not be as severe as Éowyn but urges caution. Met Éireann has issued several Status Yellow weather warnings for various parts of Ireland.

After the destructive impact of Storm Éowyn, many households around the country are still dealing with damage and having no electricity.

He wrote: “The Spanish Met Service have named #StormHerminia which is the system that will bring us wet and windy weather Sunday/Monday.” In his latest update, he said: “#StormHerminia starting to take shape out in the Atlantic and it will bring some very big seas South of Ireland tomorrow and into Monday with some ferry sailings possibly impacted. Strong winds too but thankfully the worst will stay out to sea from this one.”There is a Status Yellow snow and ice warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. It is valid from 8PM on Saturday, 25 January until 9AM on Sunday, 26 January.
