Originally from Rathfarnham in Dublin, Mr Brennan founded Joseph Brennan Bakeries 55 years ago in a single room in Fumbally Lane, with the business growing and later settling in Walkinstown
Known affectionately as "Old Mr. Brennan," Joseph was a pioneering entrepreneur in the bakery industry, leaving an indelible mark on Irish food culture.
His death notice reads: "Much loved father of David, Declan, Colm, Suzanne, Deborah, Michelle, and Joseph. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchild, daughters-in-law, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends." Another remembered him as “a true gentleman,” and a further condolence highlighted his industry-changing leadership, saying: “He was a leader of great determination and foresight.”
Over the decades, Brennans Bread has grown exponentially, moving its operations to Walkinstown and becoming one of the largest bakeries in Ireland.
