Ireland anticipates several days of wintry conditions following a weekend of storms. Expect scattered showers, plummeting temperatures, sleet, and patches of ice and frost, particularly in the north and west. Temperatures will rise slightly by Saturday but accompanied by rain. Sunday will start wet in the east but clear up for a brighter afternoon.

Ireland is set to experience a number of days of wintry weather in the aftermath of a double storm over the weekend, with wintry showers and plummeting temperatures ahead.

In his Tuesday evening forecast on X, Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather predicted that such conditions will lead to some “really really tough” weather for the many thousands of people still without electricity in the aftermath of the weekend storms. O’Reilly warned of a “biting windchill” in the coming days and said his “heart goes out” to those affected as ESB Networks, assisted by engineers drafted in from abroad, continue efforts to restore power.

It will become significantly milder on Saturday, with temperatures reaching highs of 12 degrees, but that swing in temperatures will be accompanied by rain, which will turn heavier in the west and southwest of the country on Saturday evening. Most areas will be dry with clear spells tonight, but there will be scattered showers in the north and west and some of these may be of sleet. It will be cold with frost and ice as temperatures fall to between -2 and +1 degrees. Winds will be light and variable.Tomorrow will start mostly dry with sunny spells and just isolated showers, mainly in the north and west. Cloud will increase later and outbreaks of rain or drizzle will develop in Atlantic counties by evening.
