A routine road safety operation in Dublin by Irish Gardaí resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of cocaine and cash, leading to the arrest of a man in his 30s.

A man has been arrested following a significant drug seizure in Dublin on Tuesday. Gardaí from Kevin Street and Kilmainham Garda Stations conducted a road safety operation in the Dublin 2 and Dublin 8 areas, focusing on enforcement and road safety awareness. During this operation, a probationer Garda member observed a driver acting suspiciously as he approached a checkpoint.

The Garda member conducted a search of the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of €350,000 worth of suspected cocaine and £15,000 in cash sterling. The driver, a man in his 30s, was promptly apprehended by the probationer Garda and is currently detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda station in South Dublin. A Garda spokesperson confirmed that the seized drugs will be subjected to further analysis, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
