An Air Corps helicopter has been deployed to deal with wildfires in the Wicklow Mountains
Wicklow Fire Brigade requested assistance from the Air Corps this morning. The Minister for State with responsibility for Defence, Paul Kehoe, announced this morning that AW 139 would be deployed to help deal with the blazes. I wish to confirm that a request has been approved for @IrishAirCorps support along the Wicklow / Dublin border , where a number of wildfires have broken out. AW 139 will be deployed to assist the Wicklow County Fire services .Request received this morning by DOD.
Many thanks to @OC3OPS for sending two helicopters to #Wicklow today. In an act of neighbourly selflessness we agreed to them fighting fires in Dublin with water from Wicklow. @DubFireBrigade pic.twitter.com/FLUmhuYCZL — Wicklow Fire Service February 27, 2019 It is the first time the Air Corps has responded to such a request in February.
