A young British woman died after falling while rock climbing near Malaga, Spain. Her climbing partner survived. This is the second fatality in the area in recent months.
A young woman has died after falling around 500 feet in a rock climbing area near Malaga in Spain yesterday. The body of the victim, who is believed to be British and aged in her 20s, was recovered by emergency services around 7pm. Her male companion reportedly survived by clinging to a bush-covered rock, and is said to have been in a state of shock when rescued.
The climbers are said to have lost their balance and fell while descending, after mistakenly taking the wrong route near the village of El Chorro. This tragedy follows a similar incident last month, when another British climber died in the same area. The man, aged in his 20s, was knocked unconscious and had gone into cardiac arrest when emergency responders arrived. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation has been launched by the Civil Guard. El Chorro, a small village located in Malaga, is one of the most popular rock climbing attractions in Spain.
