Officers claim Patrick Donohue and his son Martin are 'trusted lieutenants' of Midlands crime gang
THE Criminal Assets Bureau wants to seize €100,000 from a father and son the bureau claim are “trusted lieutenants” of a crime gang.
In the High Court, counsel for the CAB Grainne O’Neill, told Mr Justice Alexander Owens the bureau claimed the father and son are “trusted lieutenants, enforcers and money launderers” for the Longford-based Hannifin organised crime group. Cash was found at Patrick Donohue’s house at Temple Michael Terrace and the court heard it was gardai’s intelligence that he was holding the money for the Hannifin gang.
Donohue Snr claimed two of his sons - Robert and Denis owned the money – and some of it came from his scrap metal business. Ms O’Neill told the court: “His wife told gardai the money was the proceeds of Martin’s power washing business.”
