The Girls in Green looked shellshocked in Slovenia after falling to their worst defeat since a 5-0 loss to Sweden in 2008
Former Ireland boss Eileen Gleeson appeared to take a cryptic dig at the FAI following the women's team's 4-0 loss to Slovenia on Tuesday.
Gleeson and her assistant Colin Healy left the Ireland dugout after the FAI decided not to renew their contracts following a Euro 2025 play-off defeat to Wales. The quote, which Gleeson posted on social media, reads: "If a factory is torn down but the rationality which produced it is left standing, then that rationality will simply produce another factory.
“A lot of the girls were surprised by it, more so from the point of like how well we got on and the spirit they had for us, the connection and the good environment they created," McCabe said last week. She added: “We can’t start games like that. We always know it’s going to be difficult coming to these types of places, playing away from home, but we need to have a look at ourselves.
