As Ireland recovers from Storm Eowyn, a new weather system is predicted to bring heavy rain and gusty winds on Saturday. While Sunday is expected to be brighter, further rain is forecast for Monday. Met Eireann predicts a changeable weather pattern for early February but also anticipates plenty of dry weather.

As we head into the bank holiday weekend, an ominous weather system could spell disaster for plans for the long weekend.

The approaching system is expected to bring heavy rain and gusty winds, however while Met Eireann acknowledged a "changeable weather pattern" heading into early February, they also noted that there will be "plenty of dry weather" to bring some much needed respite. Saturday It will be mostly cloudy and rather breezy on Saturday with scattered patches of light rain and drizzle along with some hill and coastal mist and fog.

It looks set to be mostly dry on Sunday night but there is the chance of a little rain or drizzle in Atlantic coastal areas. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in the east and 7 to 10 degrees in the west. Southerly winds will increase fresh to strong by dawn on Monday.
