Experts warn of a possible significant drop in temperature with the chance of heavy snowfall in Ireland, reminiscent of the 'Beast from the East' in 2018. While uncertainty remains, weather models suggest cold conditions and potential for snowfall towards the end of February.
There are concerns that Ireland could be on the cusp of something similar to the so-called Beast from the East in 2018.
Writing on X on Sunday, Kenneth Conlon from Donegal Weather Channel, warned that should certain weather models turnout to be accurate, it would result in "ideal conditions for some snowfall similar to the 2018 Beast from the East". Kenneth continued: "The GFS model also showing the potential for something very cold. The charts attached are show upper air temperature of -10 to -12C which is rare in Ireland. This would be ideal conditions for some snowfall similar to the 2018 Beast from the East. Nothing is certain yet but it's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out over the next few days.
Met Eireann National Outlook Monday night: A mix of clear spells and scattered showers on Monday night, the showers most frequent in the east. Some of the showers will be of hail and sleet.
