Some weather experts have suggested parts of Ireland could see snowfall next week
Weather experts are warning about the possibility of snowfall across a large part of Ireland at the beginning of March.
Confirming snowfall for parts of the North on Wednesday morning, the Met Office in the UK said: "A band of heavy rain will sweep in tonight, bringing snow over the hills across Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and the northern Pennines," a spokesperson said on social media. Also writing on X, WeathÉire, an account dedicated to Irish weather news, said: "Outbreaks of rain and sleet will extend north-eastward across Ireland on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Some mountain tops in Ulster are likely to see a dusting of snow by morning, but most of the precipitation will be of rain or sleet.
Met Eireann National Outlook: Overview: High Pressure looks set to build near Ireland bringing a good deal of dry weather. Friday: It is expected to be a mostly dry day on Friday with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. A few light showers will develop in the afternoon, but they will be few and far between. Maximum temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds. On Friday night, cloud looks set to increase from the Atlantic bringing outbreaks of rain to parts of north Connacht and west Ulster. However, it looks set to hold largely dry elsewhere.
