The first babies of the year were born across Ireland as 2025 dawned. Little Bradley was the first to arrive at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin, followed by other newborns throughout the country.
2025 is officially here, and Ireland 's first babies of the year have been welcomed across the country. Just seconds after the clock struck midnight and countless cheers of 'happy new year' were heard all over the isle, the first baby arrived. Among the First Generation Beta babies, little Bradley was born at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin. He is the first child of parents Eve Colley and Eric Tyrell, and arrived into the world weighing 3.245kg (7lb 2oz).
Assistant director of midwifery Ann Calnan told them that both mum and baby are doing well. “There was no stopping this lad coming into the world,” she said. Between midnight and 8am there were eight babies born in the Rotunda. At the Rotunda Hospital, Martha Gilroy-Kelly and her partner Jack Byrne welcomed a baby boy named Theodore Byrne, at nine minutes past midnight. In Cavan General Hospital, Shannon Kelly gave birth to her 7lb 13oz baby Naoíse Beggan at 12:53am. Speaking on RTÉ's News at One, the proud mum said she was so happy her little Naoíse had arrived safely. 'I’m so happy she’s here. I’m relieved ... I’m just so happy, I haven’t slept yet myself! I’m delighted that she’s here safe and sound,' she said
