The Met Eireann forecast reads: "A wet day with widespread rain, turning heavy at times in the west and southwest. The rain will gradually clear northeastwards through the afternoon and evening with scattered showers and a few sunny spells following from the west. Blustery at first with fresh southerly winds, veering westerly and easing moderate once the rain clears. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.
Friday will be "another wet day as showers become widespread and heavy early on Friday, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms and hail. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees in light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times in the south and southwest." Looking ahead to the weekend weather forecast, Saturday is expected to be cloudy with outbreaks of rain and highs of 16 degrees. Conditions are set to remain unsettled for Sunday, with low pressure bringing "frequent rain and showers".
