A Status Yellow rain warning is in effect for Cork as Met Eireann predicts unsettled weather across Ireland for the coming days. Heavy rain, gusty winds, and scattered showers are expected to dominate the forecast.
Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for Cork , predicting unsettled weather conditions across Ireland for the next few days. The rain warning for Cork takes effect at 1 pm today and remains in place until 8 am tomorrow. This warning comes as gusty and rainy weather is expected to sweep across the country today, with most of Ireland bracing for unsettled conditions until tomorrow. Scattered showers will continue throughout the weekend, according to Met Eireann .
Today (Thursday, February 13th) will begin mostly cloudy. Many areas will experience dry conditions, with light rain or drizzle possible in parts of Munster and Connacht. Heavier rain is anticipated to spread northeastwards over Munster and Connacht throughout the afternoon and evening, potentially leading to localized flooding near the south coast. Moderate east to southeast winds are expected to strengthen to fresh to strong and gusty. The highest temperatures will range from 4 to 8 degrees. Tonight, rain will continue to spread northeastwards, affecting all areas. Higher ground in Ulster may experience sleet. The heaviest rainfall is predicted in south Munster, with a risk of localized flooding. Winds will remain fresh to strong and gusty, blowing from the east to southeast. Lowest temperatures will range from 0 to 6 degrees, coldest in Ulster and mildest in the southwest. Tomorrow (Friday, February 14th) will start wet and blustery with rain. Gradually, this rain will clear from much of Munster and Connacht, giving way to brighter or sunny spells in the afternoon. Leinster and Ulster will continue under cloudy skies throughout the day, with further episodes of rain. Southeast winds, initially fresh, will gradually ease to light to moderate. Temperatures will reach 4 to 7 degrees in Leinster and Ulster, and 9 to 12 degrees in Connacht and Munster. On Friday night, clear spells will be visible in the south and west initially, but mostly cloudy conditions will prevail elsewhere, with patchy rain and drizzle. Cloud cover will thicken across the south and west overnight, and there is a possibility of more persistent rain moving into the southwest and south towards morning. Mist and hill fog patches are also anticipated. Lowest temperatures will range from 2 to 7 degrees in light to moderate east to southeast breezes. Saturday, February 15th, is currently forecast to be cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving up over the country from the south. Temperatures will be highest in the southwest, reaching 6 to 10 degrees. Mostly moderate east to southeast winds will be fresher near Atlantic coasts. Saturday night will likely see continuing mostly cloudy conditions with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Lowest temperatures generally will be 3 to 5 degrees, but less cold in the southwest and along the south coast, in mostly moderate east to southeast winds. Sunday, February 16th, has a lower than usual forecast confidence. Mostly cloudy conditions are expected, with rain and drizzle moving into the south and west, potentially spreading further northeastwards. There is a chance of some drier and brighter periods developing, though. Temperatures will range from 5 to 10 degrees, highest in the southwest, in moderate, occasionally fresh southeast winds.
