A freezing cold snap is set to grip the entire country over the coming days, with the temperatures plummeting below freezing every day this week

Ireland will see a dramatic drop in temperatures this week, with the latest forecast from Met Eireann predicting that the thermometer will plummet as low as -3C over the coming days.

Tonight is expected to be cold and dry with a slight to sharp frost, along with some areas of fog, with lowest temperatures of -3C to +2C generally, in a light northeast wind. Wednesday will start out dry but generally quite dull with overnight mist and fog stubborn to clear some areas. It will be cold yet again with highest temperatures 1C to 6C, coldest across the western half of the country, in a light northeast breeze.
