According to the latest national forecast from Met Eireann early March will be “rather settled with just occasional light rain or drizzle”.

There’s a long running debate about when Spring officially begins, but meteorological Spring starts this Saturday, 1 March, and it marks a change in the unsettled weather we’ve experienced all winter.

A cold start to Friday, with frost, ice, mist clearing in the morning. It will be a largely dry day with plenty of sunshine for a time, turning hazy later as cloud increases from the west. Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees with mostly light to moderate southerly winds, increasing fresh to strong in western and northwestern coastal parts. After a dry start, outbreaks of rain will develop in the northwest and will extend across much of Ulster, Connacht and west Munster overnight.
