Seaside walk with iconic windmill landmark and hearty pub that's easily accessible by public transport
It looks as though Lancashire will bathe in the sun again this weekend with highs of 20C expected. If any excuse was needed to head to the seaside, there's few better than that.
This week's suggested walk takes us to the picturesque town of Lytham, where you can expect to see peaceful woodland, the beautiful and historic town centre, a stunning seafront, iconic windmill and perfectly maintained gardens. As it starts and ends at the town's railway station, it's also ideal for those using public transport as well as motorists.
Near the end of the walk, you'll pass through Lowther Gardens which is the is the oldest park in Lytham St Anne’s. The Gardens are an example of horticultural excellence and are maintained to an incredibly high standard. The walk starts and ends at the Station Pub and Grill, where you can enjoy drinks including real ales and plenty of choice for food.The original Lytham station was opened in 1846 and was rebuilt a year later.
The walk covers a distance of around 3.3 miles and was created by the excellent Community Rail Lancashire . It is on flat ground throughout and while you may not need walking boots as on many of our suggested walks, ensure you have comfortable and adequate footwear and be sure to stay hydrated in the sun.
