The Irish Coast Guard has issued a warning to the public to stay away from coastal regions as Storm Éowyn approaches, bringing potentially dangerous conditions including high winds, heavy rain, and coastal flooding.

The Irish Coast Guard is urging the public to 'stay back, stay high, and stay dry' from all coastal regions as Storm Éowyn approaches. Met Éireann has issued widespread Status Red weather warnings, commencing at 2 am on Friday morning and lasting until at least 3 pm, with no county in Ireland exempt from alerts. These warnings have resulted in the closure of all schools and the cancellation of public transport for the duration of the warnings. Power outages are anticipated nationwide.

Met Éireann warns of potential consequences including a 'danger to life,' fallen trees, structural damage, coastal flooding, and extremely hazardous driving conditions. Public safety advisories highlight the extreme danger surrounding coastal regions, including cliffs, piers, and beaches, during both Status Red and Status Orange conditions and in the days following. Individuals are strongly urged to 'shelter in place' during red warnings. A high surge advisory is in effect for all coasts, with wave overtopping predicted in exposed low-lying coastal areas, particularly on Atlantic coasts. Status Red wind and marine storm warnings are also in place, bringing winds of force 10 and above. The Irish Coast Guard remains prepared to respond, prioritizing the safety of Coast Guard personnel and partner agencies during this Red weather warning. The Coast Guard encourages the public to remain vigilant to public safety alerts and weather updates. In case of an emergency, contact Marine VHF Ch 16 or dial 112 and request the Coast Guard
