Michael O'Sullivan, 62, sadly passed away after a fire broke out in his apartment on Togher Road in Cork city. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, but Mr. O'Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was treated for smoke inhalation. Friends and neighbours have paid emotional tributes to the 'gentle soul' who was well-known locally.
Tributes have been paid to a 62-year-old man who tragically died after a fire broke out in his flat in Co Cork last week.
Firefighters gained entry to the apartment using breathing apparatus to check for occupants and found Mr O'Sullivan lying unresponsive in the kitchen area of his first-floor home. "Condolences to Michael's family and friends. Rest in peace Mick, it was a pleasure to have known you and you will be sadly missed by me and Buster," one person said.
A fourth person added: "So sorry for the loss of your brother he was a gentle soul and a good friend of my brother peter who also passed just lately may michael get the best bed in heaven."
