The Rower-Inistioge man won four All-Irelands with Kilkenny and feels that they are now 'relying on the old guard an awful lot more than we should'.

Former Kilkenny star Kieran Joyce says that the county is not producing talent like it once did - as an unwanted record looms this year.

“But from a Kilkenny point of view yeah, we haven’t been as competitive. When I came into the Kilkenny panel, I had won two All-Irelands under-21 at that stage. I lost a minor All-Ireland at that stage, but I had faced that. “Look, we know from Kilkenny for a number of years, you're so reliant on TJ and if TJ had a bad game, Kilkenny would have a bad game.

“Kilkenny have probably come back into the pack a little bit in that sense so there's probably a lot of, I wouldn't say uncertainty, but I suppose there's going to be a lot of testing the waters in the next couple of months.”
