Ireland is enduring a spell of persistent bad weather as multiple counties remain under wind warnings following a weekend of storms. Storm Eowyn and Storm Herminia brought strong winds and heavy rain, causing damage and disrupting travel. Met Eireann warns of further potential damage and hazardous conditions.

Weather warnings persist across several Irish counties this Monday, January 27th, as the nation continues to grapple with the aftermath of a stormy weekend. Storm Eowyn unleashed its fury on Friday, followed by Storm Herminia's impact on Sunday, leaving a trail of disruption and damage.

Cork, Kerry, and Waterford remain under a Status Yellow wind warning until 9 am Monday, with Met Eireann forecasting 'further damage to already weakened structures and trees' and 'dangerous travelling conditions.' Wexford faces a similar warning, valid until 2 pm on Monday, anticipating strong and gusty winds throughout the morning and early afternoon. A Met Eireann spokesperson described the day ahead: 'A blustery start with showery outbreaks of rain today. A few dry and bright spells will occur though. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong in the south and southeast, will ease mostly light to moderate variable in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, coolest in the northwest.' The spokesperson continued, outlining the evening and coming days: 'Tonight showery outbreaks of rain will continue and it will turn quite cold with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds will freshen overnight, becoming strong to near gale in southwestern counties by morning. Tomorrow, Tuesday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers with longer spells of rain possible in parts. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with fresh and gusty northwesterly winds, strong over Munster and west Connacht, but decreasing moderate to fresh westerly later. Tuesday night will be dry for a good part of the country, but there will be some scattered showers in the north and west with some wintry falls in the north. Frost and icy patches are likely with some fog pockets too with mostly light winds. Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees.
