A man in his 30s was left with serious injuries following a violent attack on North Queen Street in Belfast. Police are investigating the assault, which occurred at around 8pm on Saturday, March 15, and are appealing for witnesses.
An investigation has been launched following a serious assault in Belfast yesterday evening. Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) are appealing for information and witnesses after a man in his 30s reported being knocked unconscious during an incident on North Queen Street at approximately 8pm on Saturday, March 15. The victim was rushed to hospital with serious wounds to his face and leg sustained during the attack.
Detective Sergeant McVeagh stated: 'The man, aged in his 30s, reported that he was walking on North Queen Street at around 8pm when he was attacked by two men wearing balaclavas. He believed one of the men was armed with a machete, and reported a struggle during which he was knocked unconscious. He suffered deep lacerations to his leg and face in addition to the head injury. It's shocking that an attack of this seriousness could take place in a busy area, and we know that someone must have seen the assault take place or suspicious behaviour around that time.' Police are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1603 of 15/03/25. Alternatively, reports can be made online or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
