Austria takes home the record-breaking €250 million EuroMillions jackpot, while over 100,000 Irish players win prizes in Friday's draw.
The results are in for Friday's highly-anticipated EuroMillions draw, and while there was no luck for the Irish with the record-breaking €250 million jackpot, more than 100,000 Irish players still have reason to celebrate. Nobody won the €220m EuroMillions jackpot on Tuesday, meaning the top prize rolled over into Friday's draw.
The National Lottery has confirmed that one EuroMillions player in Austria claimed the record total of €250 million jackpot in Friday night's draw, thus becoming the largest lottery winner ever to be seen in the EuroMillions game. \Lotto players were made to wait to see if they had won the mammoth jackpot as the results were delayed 'due to technical reasons,' according to a National Lottery spokesperson. While, in the end, the mammoth jackpot went to Austria, over 100,000 players in Ireland won prizes in Friday's EuroMillions and EuroMillions Plus draws. The numbers called in Friday's (March 28) EuroMillions draw were: 10, 21, 30, 42, 45 and the Lucky Stars are: 01 and 09. Meanwhile, in the Plus draw, where there was a life-changing €500,000 jackpot up for grabs, the numbers to look out for are: 3, 11, 24,27 and 30. \10 Irish players also pocketed €5,000 each in the Ireland-Only raffle draw. The winning Ireland-only raffle numbers are as follows: Players across Ireland are now being urged to check their tickets to see if they are among the 104,000 people here who won prizes in Friday's EuroMillions and Plus games. Two Irish players won €1,198 in Friday night's draw after matching four numbers and two lucky stars. If you hold a winning ticket that you bought in a shop, you must claim your prize within 90 days of the applicable draw date. Under the EuroMillions community rules, the jackpot is capped when it reaches €250 million and any excess which would normally be allocated to the jackpot for a given draw, will flow down to the next prize tier at which there are winners in that draw - e.g. when the Jackpot is capped at €250 million if the sales contribution would naturally see the jackpot grow to €260 million, then the jackpot remains capped at €250 million but the excess €10 million flows down to the next tier where there is a winner and is shared with those winner(s). Since the EuroMillions game launched in Ireland in 2004, there have been 17 Irish EuroMillions jackpot winners.
