Ireland is waking up to a wet and windy Monday morning

There appears to be no let-up to the miserable conditions as weather warnings remain in place for multiple counties this morning, Monday January 27.

The counties of Cork, Kerry and Waterford remain under Status Yellow wind warnings until 9am on Monday morning as Met Eireann warns of "further damage to already weakened structures and trees" and "dangerous travelling conditions." A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "A blustery start with showery outbreaks of rain today. A few dry and bright spells will occur though. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, strong in the south and southeast, will ease mostly light to moderate variable in the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, coolest in the northwest.

"Tomorrow, Tuesday will bring a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers with longer spells of rain possible in parts. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with fresh and gusty northwesterly winds, strong over Munster and west Connacht, but decreasing moderate to fresh westerly later.
